What is AAPI Month?
AAPI stands for Asian American and Pacific Islander. The term Asian American and Pacific Islander encompasses a diverse group of people originating from East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. AAPI Heritage Month is a recognition of this group’s contributions to society.
🌏It is also known as AANHPI Heritage Month, with the inclusion of Native Hawaiians within the Asian-Pacific diaspora in respect to their unique culture.

When is AAPI Month?
Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is celebrated annually during the month of May, from May 1 - 31st across USA and Canada.
What does AAPI Heritage Month Celebrate?
Historical background: Asian immigrants began arriving in the U.S. and Canada in significant numbers in the mid-1800s. One notable event was the California Gold Rush in 1848 and the building of the national railroad in Canada, which attracted many Asian immigrants.
AAPI Heritage Month is observed to celebrate the significant contributions in various fields, from arts and sciences to politics and activism.
