International Day for Cultural Diversity, Dialogue and Development is a day to educate people on the importance of cultural diversity and to raise awareness of the related issues faced in today's society.

In 2001, UNESCO adopted the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity in order to foster sustainable development and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms.
