Bi Visibility Day

Bi Visibility Day is a day of honor and has been recognized on September 23 since 1999. It celebrates the bisexual community and its history.

Bisexuality refers to the attraction, whether emotional, physical, or romantic, to people of the opposite gender and people of the same gender. The bisexuality flag is pink, purple, and blue, as seen in the image.

Bi people are often the most forgotten part of the LGBTQIA2+ community because their identity is often diminished compared to the gay and lesbian experience. Being bi comes with many stereotypes such as unfaithful, unable to be monogamous, manipulative, and the concept of bisexuality does not exist. There’s a negative connotation with bisexuality that it is “just a phase” and that they are “not gay enough.”

Hello everyone,

Today September 23, is Bi Visibility Day. Did you know that bisexual individuals accounted for the largest part of the LGBTQ+ population, approximately 1.8% (Pew Research Center)? Bisexuality refers to the attraction, whether emotional, physical, or romantic, to people of the opposite gender and people of the same gender.

We encourage you to strive to create a safe space for your fellow members of the LGBTQIA2+ at [Company Name]. One way to do this is by not making assumptions about coworkers and being mindful of language use. An easy way to use inclusive language is to use the word “partner” instead of “wife” or “husband.”

We encourage you to learn more on how to be a better ally and how to welcome the LGBTQIA+ community in our workplace.

A big thank you to all of you for your continuous support of our DEI initiatives.
